Politically Correct AiboPal for Latte and Macaron

There are two versions of AiboPal. The Japanese version (ERF-310AW06J) and the English version (ERF-310AW07E).

In addition to the language difference, the functionality is different.
The Japanese release has two distinct personalities, depending on which ERS-31X AIBO you put the software in.
  • Latte (ERS-311, the one with white skin) is gentle and social.
  • Maracon (ERS-312, the one with black skin) is more aggressive and rebellious.

    The English release has the same personality for both colored dogs: the gentle and social white-bred "Latte" personality.

    The memory sticks are keyed differently, so you can not copy the W06J software onto a W07E stick (or vice versa).

    AiboPal W06J Personalities

    There is no time or experienced based "evolution" for AiboPal. There are rules for personality adjustment (similar to ERS-210 AiboLife adjusting Adult personalities).

    In addition to the personality levels, some of the shared performances are different between Latte and Macaron (keyed off the model number).

    PalSwap - Brain Surgery for AiboPal

    For Japanese owners of Macaron (the black AIBO), they can now experience what it is like to own the white Latte. For Japanese owners of Latte (the white AIBO), they can now experience what it is like to own the black Macaron.

    For US (and world-wide) owners of a 31x, they can experience the black Macaron personality, kept oppressed by the man.

    There are five options:
    • Default - AiboPal will determine the personality as usual (see above)
    • Latte Positive - Mood will always be Latte Positive.
    • Latte Negative - Mood will always be Latte Negative.
    • Macaron Positive - Mood will always be Macaron Positive.
    • Macaron Negative - Mood will always be Macaron Negative.

    Installation

  • Put your AiboPal memory stick (ERF-310AW06J or ERF-310AW07E) in your Sony brand memory stick reader attached to your PC.
  • Backup your AiboPal memory stick (ERF-310AW06J or ERF-310AW07E) by copying the OPEN-R folder to your desktop (and naming it something like "AiboPal Backup").
  • Download PalSwap.zip and unzip it to the root of the memory stick. You should see the PalSwap.exe program as well as the OPEN-R folder (and perhaps the MEMSTICK.IND file) at the root of the stick.
  • Double click on the PalSwap.exe program on the memory stick
  • Pick on of the five personality options
  • Hit OK
  • Remove the stick from the PC, and put it in your ERS-311 or ERS-312 AIBO.
  • Enjoy

    NOTE: you must run the stick in your AIBO at least once before the browser (ABrowser23.exe) will show the correct personality/mood.
