Overview
AIBO has a color CCD camera in its nose. The effective frame rate processed by AIBO is around 7 or 8 frames per second. This camera has a resolution of 362x492 (about 180,000 pixels). The camera encodes the video using YUV encoding (which allows for 16 million colors more or less). AIBO uses the camera for color, motion and edge detection. AIBO's vision subsystem supports only two resolutions: 88x60 and 44x30. According to the CONNECT.CFG file, the low resolution 44x30 is not used.
